Case Study: Dog Walking App
As part of Dribbble's Product Design Course, I created a dog walking app. This app was a group effort, but in the end the final product had to be my personal vision.
During our mentor sessions we were able to have weekly feedback and support from one our mentor.
As a team we:
1. Identified pain points
2. Conducted market research
3. Individual research by interviewing dog owners
As an individual I:
1. Created the user flow
2. Explored app idea with wireframes
3. Gave life to branding with visual design
4. Prototyped and tested the app
How do we give an easy alternative to people who need a dog walker when they are unable to do it themselves? That the problem that needs to be solved with this project. When we began our journey the first step we took as a group was to identify pain points of dog owners who would need the app to figure out what problem we were trying to solve. The group identified the following.
After we conducted market research where we took a look at other dog walking apps to analyze what they were doing that works and what they were missing.
We then conducted research by looking at app reviews and conducting interviews with dog owners.
With the data collected I then came up with a user persona to help me deliver an app that would be functional for the needs of a target user.
After analyzing the data, I was able to come up with the user flow that included: onboarding, dog walker selection, and sign up.
With the user flow thought out, I was able to bring the wireframes to life by quick sketches made on Figma.
Once wireframes were completed I then moved on to visual design. Having this as my first app ever, I wanted to make sure that I was solving the problem while making sure my app was user friendly and intuitive to use.
For branding I wanted to highlight that having a dog is such a delightful experience, so I wanted to make sure that I was using delightful colors to represent my brand core colors. I also wanted to highlight my app as a a fun non-serious experience so I made sure to give my buttons high corner radius to simulate a game, fun, like owning a dog.
Lastly, I prototyped and tested the app. When presented to the public it was pointed out that the way color was used throughout the app made things a bit confusing. After that I was able to revise the visual design to make the app more user friendly while keeping it delightful.
Thank you for checking out my project! :)
